The Secretary of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating, acting through the Commandant of the Coast Guard, shall develop a Large Commercial Yacht code for recreational vessels over 300 gross tons as measured under section 14502 of title 46, United States Code, or an alternate tonnage measured under section 14302 of such title (as prescribed by the Secretary under section 14104 of such title), that is comparable to the Code of Safe Practice for Large Commercial Yachts (commonly referred to as the Large Commercial Yacht Code ), as published by the Maritime and Coast Guard of the United Kingdom.
The Secretary shall complete such code by no later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act.
