Section 46 of title 14, United States Code, is amended— in the section heading, by inserting after or Vice Commandant ; Commandant by redesignating subsection
(a)as subsection (a)(1); by adding at the end of subsection
(a)the following: A Vice Commandant who is not reappointed or appointed Commandant shall be retired with the grade of admiral at the expiration of the appointed term, except as provided in section 51(d). ; in subsections
(b)and (c), by inserting or Vice Commandant after Commandant each place it appears; and in subsection (c), by striking his and inserting the officer’s . Section 51 of title 14, United States Code, is amended by striking other than the Commandant, each place it appears and inserting other than the Commandant or Vice Commandant, . The analysis at the beginning of chapter 3 of title 14, United States Code, is amended by striking the item relating to section 46 and inserting the following: 46. Retirement of Commandant or Vice Commandant. .
