The Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration shall conduct a review of its process to approve the use of large air tankers and very large air tankers for wildland firefighting for the purpose of— determining the current effectiveness, safety, and consistency of the approval process; developing recommendations for improving the effectiveness, safety, and consistency of the approval process; and assisting in developing standardized next-generation requirements for air tankers used for firefighting.
Not later than 1 year after the date of enactment of this Act, the Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration shall submit to Congress a report describing the outcome of the review conducted under subsection (a).
