Sec. 2862. Authority of Chief Operating Officer of Armed Forces Retirement Home to acquire and lease property

Section 1511(e) of the Armed Forces Retirement Home Act of 1991 ( 24 U.S.C. 411(e) ) is amended— in paragraph (2)— by striking “Secretary of Defense may acquire,” and inserting “Chief Operating Officer may acquire,”; and by striking “Secretary may acquire” and inserting “Chief Operating Officer may acquire”; and in paragraph (3)— by striking “Secretary of Defense determines” and inserting “Chief Operating Officer determines”; and by striking “Secretary shall dispose” and inserting “Chief Operating Officer shall dispose”. Subsection
(i)of section 1511 of such Act ( 24 U.S.C. 411(i) ) is amended— in paragraph (1)— by striking “Secretary of Defense (acting on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer)” and inserting “Chief Operating Officer”; and by striking “Secretary considers” and inserting “Chief Operating Officer considers”; in paragraph (5), by striking “the Secretary of Defense may not enter into the lease on behalf of the Chief Operating Officer” and inserting “the Chief Operating Officer may not enter into the lease”; and in subparagraph
(A)of paragraph (6), by striking “Secretary of Defense” and inserting “Chief Operating Officer”.
