Section 582 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 ( Public Law 110–181 ; 10 U.S.C. 10101 note) is amended— by redesignating subsections
(k)and
(l)as subsections
(l)and (m), respectively; and by inserting after subsection
(j)the following new subsection (k): The Secretary of Defense may award grants to States to carry out programs that provide deployment cycle information, services, and referrals to members of reserve components of the Armed Forces, members of active components of the Armed Forces, and the families of such members throughout the deployment cycle. Such programs may include the provision of access to outreach services, including the following: Employment counseling. Behavioral health counseling. Suicide prevention. Housing advocacy. Financial counseling. Referrals to for the receipt of other services. .
