Sec. 1044. Modification of requirements regarding notifications to Congress on sensitive military operations

Subsection
(a)of section 130f of title 10, United States Code, is amended by inserting not later than 36 hours before following such operation . Subsection
(b)of such section is amended— in paragraph (1), by adding at the end the following new sentence: The Secretary shall promptly notify the congressional defense committees in writing of any changes to such procedures. ; and by adding at the end the following new paragraph: In the event of an unauthorized disclosure described in paragraph (2), the Secretary shall ensure, to the maximum extent practicable, that the congressional defense committees are notified immediately of the sensitive military operation concerned. . Such section is further amended— in subsection (a), by striking the second sentence; and in subsection (c), by inserting before the period at the end the following: , including Department of Defense support to operations conducted under the National Security Act of 1947 ( . 50 U.S.C. 3001 et seq. ) Subsection
(d)of such section is amended by striking means and all that follows and inserting “means the following: A lethal operation or capture operation conducted by the armed forces outside the United States that targets a specific individual or individuals. An operation conducted by the armed forces outside a theater of major hostilities in self-defense or in defense of foreign partners. . Such section is further amended— by striking subsection (e); and by redesignating subsection
(f)as subsection (e). The heading of such section is amended to read as follows: . The table of sections at the beginning of chapter 3 of such title is amended by striking the item relating to section 130f and insert the following new item: 130f. Notification requirements for sensitive military operations. .
