Section 53102 of title 46, United States Code, is amended by adding at the end the following: The Secretary of Defense, in conjunction with the Secretary of Transportation, may extend the maximum age restrictions under sections 53101(5)(A)(ii) and 53106(c)(3) for a particular participating fleet vessel for up to 5 years if the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Transportation jointly determine that such extension is in the national interest. . Section 53106(c)(3) of such title is amended— in subparagraph (A), by striking or (C); and inserting ; or ; in subparagraph (B), by striking ; or at the end and inserting a period; and by striking subparagraph (C).
