The Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics, in cooperation with the Secretary of the Navy, the Secretary of the Air Force, and the Director of National Intelligence, shall conduct an evaluation of the space-based infrared system to detect, track, and target, or to develop the capability to detect, track and target, the full range of threats to the United States, deployed members of the Armed Forces, and the allies of the United States. Not later than December 31, 2016, the Under Secretary shall submit to the congressional defense committees, the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence of the House of Representatives, and the Select Committee on Intelligence of the Senate the evaluation under subsection (a).
