Section 8135 is amended— in subsection (a), by inserting (or surviving partner) after widow or widower ; and by striking subsection
(b)and inserting the following: A widow or widower on remarriage (or on entry into a domestic partnership) before reaching age 55 (or a surviving partner on entry into a subsequent domestic partnership or on marriage before age 55) who is entitled to compensation under section 8133 of this title, shall be paid a lump sum equal to 24 times the monthly compensation payment (excluding compensation on account of another individual) to which that individual was entitled immediately before the remarriage (or entry into a domestic partnership) (or, in the case of a surviving partner, immediately before entry into the subsequent domestic partnership or the marriage). .
