Section 1001 (20 U.S.C. 6301) is amended to read as follows: The purpose of this title is to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to receive a high-quality education that prepares them for postsecondary education or the workforce, without the need for remediation, and to close the achievement gap between high- and low-performing children, especially the achievement gaps between minority and nonminority students, and between disadvantaged children and their more advantaged peers. .
