Subsection
(b)of section 1081 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 ( Public Law 112–81 ; 125 Stat. 1599; 10 U.S.C. 168 note) is amended— in paragraph (1), by striking September 30, 2014 and inserting September 30, 2017 ; and in paragraph (2), by striking fiscal year 2012, 2013, or 2014 and inserting a fiscal year ending on or before that date . The Under Secretary of Defense for Policy shall issue an update of the policy of the Department of Defense for assignment of civilian employees of the Department as advisors to foreign ministries of defense under the authority in section 1081 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, as amended by this section.
