The Secretary of Homeland Security shall increase by 20 percent the number of K–9 units working within U.S. Customs and Border Protection over the number of such units in existence at the end of fiscal year 2013, including adding infrastructure, officers, and support staff necessary for such additional units. The Secretary of Homeland Security shall deploy to the international borders between the United States and Mexico and the United States and Canada the additional K–9 units added under subsection (a). Such units shall be used only for bomb, narcotics, passenger, and currency detection purposes.
