§18B-4-3. Authority to participate in reciprocal regional and interstate higher educational agreements.

In order to provide higher educational opportunities at minimum cost to students and the state, the governing boards, on behalf of the State of West Virginia, are authorized and empowered to participate in the Southern Regional Education Board interstate agreement, namely the Academic Common Market, and in such other regional and interstate agreements determined to be mutually beneficial to the citizens of the participating states and which provide an opportunity for qualified nonresident students to enroll in selected programs and curricula on a resident tuition and fee charge basis.
Each governing board is specifically authorized to waive the collection of nonresident tuition and fee charges for students from other states enrolled in programs and curricula under the jurisdiction of and approved by the governing board as a part of a regional or interstate agreement.
