227.46 Hearing examiners; examination of evidence by agency.
(1)Except as provided under s. 227.43
(1), an agency may designate an official of the agency or an employee on its staff or borrowed from another agency under s. 20.901 or 230.047 as a hearing examiner to preside over any contested case. Subject to rules of the agency, examiners presiding at hearings may:
(a)Administer oaths and affirmations.
