(1)A person who applies for a vehicle registration or for any other right to operate a vehicle on the highways of this state shall pay a 50 cent license service fee in addition to any other fees and taxes required by law. The license service fee must be distributed under RCW 46.68.220 .
(2)A vehicle registered under RCW 46.16A.455 or 46.17.330 is not subject to the license service fee, except for a vehicle subject to the fee under RCW 46.17.355 .
(3)The revenue generated from subsection
(2)of this section must be deposited in the move ahead WA account created in RCW 46.68.510 .

RCW 46.17.025
License service fee. (Effective January 1, 2026.)
(1)A person who applies for a vehicle registration or for any other right to operate a vehicle on the highways of this state shall pay a 75 cent license service fee in addition to any other fees and taxes required by law. Except as provided in subsection
(3)of this section, the license service fee must be distributed under RCW 46.68.220 .
(2)A vehicle registered under RCW 46.16A.455 or 46.17.330 is not subject to the license service fee, except for a vehicle subject to the fee under RCW 46.17.355 .
(3)(a) Two-thirds of the revenue generated from subsection
(2)of this section must be deposited in the move ahead WA account created in RCW 46.68.510 .
(b)One-third of the revenue generated from subsections
(1)and
(2)of this section must be deposited into the driver education safety improvement account created in RCW 46.68.540 .
