(1)In addition to department issued licenses and certifications required under this chapter and notwithstanding RCW 19.28.211 (4), installation of electric vehicle supply equipment on all public works as defined in RCW 39.04.010 must be performed by persons certified by the electric vehicle infrastructure training program or a similar nationally recognized program to ensure safety, effectiveness, and achieve consistency in installation standards. This provision will only be applied if the electric vehicle infrastructure training program or a similar nationally recognized program is open to all general journeyman level electricians. Certification under this section is required only for work on the electrical components during the installation and maintenance of electric vehicle supply equipment.
(2)This section does not apply to apprentices meeting the criteria of RCW 19.28.161 (2)(a)(i) when the supervising journey level electrician is certified by the electric vehicle infrastructure training program or a similar nationally recognized program.
(3)This section does not apply to installations under contract before the effective date.
(4)The department may adopt rules necessary to implement chapter 233, Laws of 2025.
