§ 2016. Commissioner to check identification number
The Commissioner, upon receiving application for a first certificate of title shall check the identification number of the vehicle shown in the application against the records of vehicles required to be maintained by section 2017 of this title and against the record of stolen and converted vehicles required to be maintained by section 2084 of this title.
