§ 5250p. Sale or purchase of parts prohibited
(a)Except as otherwise provided in subsection
(b)of this section, no person shall, for valuable consideration, knowingly purchase or sell a part for transplantation or therapy if removal of a part from an individual is intended to occur after the individual’s death.
(b)A person may charge a reasonable amount for the removal, processing, preservation, quality control, storage, transportation, implantation, or disposal of a part.
(c)A person who violates subsection
(a)of this section shall be imprisoned not more than five years or fined not more than $50,000.00, or both. (Added 2009, No. 119 (Adj. Sess.), § 1.)
