§ 2. Purpose
The District is created, as a body politic and corporate, and shall exist for the purpose of providing a comprehensive system for managing solid waste, recyclable materials, organic material, and exempt hazardous waste generated within member municipalities. The principal elements of the management system may include the following: collection, transportation, processing, citizen information and education, land disposal, recycling centers, intermediate processing facilities, composting facilities, or resource recovery facilities, or any combination thereof, within and outside the District, as well as any other methods allowed by law.
The District may accept solid waste and other materials from outside the District. (Amended 2011, No. M-11 (Adj. Sess.), § 2, eff. July 12, 2012.)
