§ 171. Appointment; compensation; removal; term
Said commissioners shall, if applicable under the circumstances, during the second week in April, appoint the Superintendent of Schools and/or fix his or her compensation, which shall be paid by the school commissioners in the same manner as other expenses for the support of schools; and for causes of incapacity, negligence, or misconduct they may remove such Superintendent of Schools from office and they shall by appointment fill all vacancies in such office arising from any cause.
Such Superintendent shall be appointed to serve a term, the length of which shall not be for less than one year nor more than three years which term shall commence on the first day of July following such appointment. The Superintendent shall hold his or her office for his or her full appointed term unless excused therefrom by the school commissioners or unless sooner removed as hereinbefore provided.
