§ 1097. EFFECTIVE DATES.

In General .— Except as otherwise expressly provided in this Act [see Tables for classification], this title [see Tables for classification] and the amendments made by this title shall take effect not later than six months after the date of the enactment of this Act [ Dec. 17, 2004 ] [For determination by the President that certain sections of title I of Pub. L. 108–458 take effect earlier than six months after the date of enactment, see Memorandum of President of the United States, Apr. 21, 2005 , 70 F.R. 23925, set out as a note below.].
Specific Effective Dates .— Not later than 60 days after the date of the appointment of the first Director of National Intelligence, the Director of National Intelligence shall first appoint individuals to positions within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. Subparagraph
(A)shall not apply with respect to the Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence. Not later than 180 days after the effective date of this Act [probably means the effective date of title I of Pub. L. 108–458 , see above], the President shall transmit to Congress the implementation plan required by section 1094. Not later than one year after the date of the enactment of this Act [ Dec. 17, 2004 ], the Director of National Intelligence shall prescribe regulations, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines required under section 102A of the National Security Act of 1947 [ 50 U.S.C. 3024 ], as amended by section 1011(a) of this Act.”
