§ 3502. PILOT PROGRAM FOR INCREASED EFFICIENCY AND SECURITY AT CATEGORY X AIRPORTS.

In General .— The Administrator shall establish a pilot program at at least three and not more than six airports to reconfigure and install security systems that increase efficiency and reduce vulnerabilities in airport terminals, particularly at airports that have large open areas at which screening is conducted. Selection of Airports .— In selecting airports for the pilot program established under subsection (a), the Administrator shall— select airports from among airports classified by the TSA as Category X airports and that are able to begin the reconfiguration and installation of security systems expeditiously; and give priority to an airport that— submits a proposal that seeks Federal funding for reconfiguration of such airport’s security systems; has the space needed to reduce vulnerabilities and reconfigure existing security systems; and is able to enter into a cost-sharing arrangement with the TSA under which such airport will provided [sic] funding towards the cost of such pilot program.
