§ 329. PROHIBITION ON PERFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES AND POLYFLUOROALKYL SUBSTANCES IN MEALS READY-TO-EAT FOOD PACKAGING.

Prohibition .— Not later than October 1, 2021 , the Director of the Defense Logistics Agency shall ensure that any food contact substances that are used to assemble and package meals ready-to-eat
(MREs)procured by the Defense Logistics Agency do not contain any perfluoroalkyl substances or polyfluoroalkyl substances. Definitions .— In this section: Perfluoroalkyl substance .— The term ‘perfluoroalkyl substance’ means a man-made chemical of which all of the carbon atoms are fully fluorinated carbon atoms. Polyfluoroalkyl substance .— The term ‘polyfluoroalkyl substance’ means a man-made chemical containing a mix of fully fluorinated carbon atoms, partially fluorinated carbon atoms, and nonfluorinated carbon atoms.
