§ 842.14. Filing a claim.

Claimant complains (orally or in writing) to the commander of a military organization or unit of the alleged offending member or members or to the commander of the nearest military installation. If the claim is made orally, the individual must assist the commander to reduce the complaint to writing within a reasonable time. The complainant need not request a sum certain in writing at the time the complaint is filed, but they must present such value and evidence before settlement is made. \[81 FR 83688, Nov. 22, 2016\]
