The Personnel Claims Act provides the authority for maximum payment up to \$40,000, \$100,000 in extraordinary circumstances for loss, damage, or destruction of personal property of military personnel or civilian employees incident to their service. No claim may be paid unless it is presented in writing within 2 years of the incident that gave rise to the claim. \[72 FR 53422, Sept. 19, 2007\]
