Chap. XXIII.— An Act for the Relief of James M. Scantland. Jan. 19, 1849. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, A pension of $50 per month allowed J. M. Scantland. That the Secretary of War allow and pay to James M. Scantland fifty dollars per month during his natural life, in lieu of the pension now allowed him by law, to commence on the eighteenth December, eighteen hundred and forty-eight. Approved, January 19, 1849.
