Chap. XVIII.— An Act for the Relief of John B. Smith and Simeon Darden. Jan. 10, 1849. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Messrs. Smith and Darden to be paid $100 for their services and expenses incurred in the arrest of John Weaver, who was convicted of robbing the mail. That the Secretary of the Treasury is hereby directed to pay, or cause to be paid, by the proper disbursing officer, the sum of one hundred dollars, to the said John B.
Smith and Simeon Darden, for labor and expenses incurred by them in the pursuit and arrest of John Weaver, who was tried and convicted, in the District Court of the United States for the middle district of Alabama, of the crime of stealing from the mail of the United States. Approved, January 10, 1849.
