Chap. CXV.— An Act to authorize the Secretary of the Treasury to make a Compromise and Settlement with the Securities of Francis D. Newcomb, late Surveyor-General of the State of Louisiana. July 25, 1848. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Secretary of the Treasury authorized to make a settlement and compromise with the securities of F. D. Newcomb. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized to make such an equitable settlement and compromise with the securities of Francis D.
Newcomb, late surveyor-general of the State of Louisiana, as he shall, under the circumstances, deem advisable; and on their paying or securing to his satisfaction the sum agreed to be paid by them, to dis-charge them fully from all liability as such securities. Approved, July 25, 1848.
