Chap. CXCIV.— An Act for the Relief of Samuel Grice. Aug. 14, 1848. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Samuel Grice to be paid the amount of damages sustained by him in consequence of the seizure of his boat by an officer of the United States army in 1836. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and lie is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, such amount of damages as, from the testimony furnished, shall appear to have been sustained by Samuel Grice, in consequence of the seizure of his boat by an officer of the United States army, in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-six, so far as said damages have not arisen from the negligence of said Grice.
