Chap. CVII.— An Act for the Relief of John C. Stewart and others. March 3, 1847. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, John C. Stewart and others to be paid $375 for services as watchmen of the Treasury Building in 1838, 1839, and 1840. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized to pay five hundred and seventy-five dollars, out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to John C.
Stewart, and other watchmen employed in the years eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, eighteen hundred and thirty-nine, and eighteen hundred and forty, to watch the Treasury Building, and to build and maintain fires in the rooms of the same; the said sum of money to be equally divided between the said watchmen by the Secretary of the Treasury.
