Chap. CLXXX.— An Act for the Relief of James F. Sothoron. March 3, 1849. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Secretary of the Treasury to as- That the Secretary788THIRTIETH CONGRESS. Sess. II. Ch. 181, 182. 1849. certain the value of certain tobacco owned by James F. Sothoron which was destroyed by the British troops during the war of 1812.Amount to be paid to his legal representatives.of the Treasury be directed to ascertain the then value of the tobacco owned by the late James F.
Sothoron, and which was destroyed by the British troops during the late war, and to pay the amount thereof, out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, to the legal representatives of the said James F. Sothoron, deceased, as a full indemnity for the loss of personal property destroyed by the enemy during the late war with Great Britain, in consequence of the occupation of said Sothoron’s buildings by the American forces by order of their commanding officer. Approved, March 3, 1849.
