Chap. CCIX.— An Act for the Relief of David Wilkinson. Aug. 14, 1848. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, David Wilkinson to be paid $10,000 for the use of the principle of the gauge and sliding lathe invented by him, at the workshops of the government. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and required to cause to be paid to David Wilkinson the sura of ten thousand dollars, as a remuneration to him for the benefits accruing to the public service from the use of the principle of the gauge and sliding lathe, of which he was the inventor, now in use in the workshops of the government at the different national arsenals and armories; the same to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
