Chap. XXIV.— An Act to authorize the issuing of letters patent to Samuel Brown. Feb. 28, 1824. *Be it enacted, &c., * That the Secretary of State be, and he hereby is, authorized and required to issue letters patent in the usual form to SamuelLetters patent to issue to him. Brown, for his invention of a new and useful engine for producing power by which water may be raised, machines worked, and vessels propelled, without the aid of steam, upon his complying with all the provisions of the several acts of Congress, relative to the issuing of letters patent for inventions and improvements, except so far as the said acts require, on the part of aliens, a residence of two years in the United States.
