Chap. XVII.— An Act *for the relief of Gamaliel E. Smith.*May 2, 1840. *Be it enacted, &c*., That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and hereby is,Payment for labor and materials. authorized to pay to Gamaliel E. Smith, out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of five hundred dollars, in full for labor performed under a contract made with the United States in the summer of eighteen hundred and twenty-nine, to build a light-house and dwelling-house on Mount Desert Rock, and for materials furnished by him, and used by his successor under said contract, to construct said building. Approved, May 2, 1840.
