Chap. XLII.— An Act *for the relief of certain companies of Michigan militia.*Feb. 24, 1843. *Be it enacted, &c*., That the proper accounting officers of the treasury lie, and they hereby are, authorized and required to audit andAccounts of certain companies to be settled, &c. settle the accounts of four companies of the militia of the state of Michigan, which were ordered into service by the Governor of the state, on the requisition of the United States marshal, for the maintenance of the neutral obligations and laws of the United States; and that the amount found due be paid to them out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted*, That the said accounting officersClaims of the Brady Guards to be settled and paid. be, and they are hereby, also authorized and required to audit and settle the claims of the Brady guards, a volunteer company of the city of Detroit, for services rendered by them in maintaining the neutral obligations and laws of the United States, and in protecting the public property, during the disturbances in the year eighteen hundred and thirty-eight, on the frontiers of Canada; and that the amount found due be paid to them.
