Chap. XIV.— An Act allowing James Mathers compensation for services done for the United States, and expenses incurred in rendering said services, as sergeant-at-arms to the Senate. Feb. 25, 1799. *Be it enacted, &c., * That the sum of five hundred and one dollars be, Allowance to James Mathers.and the same is hereby, allowed to James Mathers, for his services and expenses, during the recess of Congress, as sergeant-at-arms to the Senate of the United States, which services were done, and expenses incurred, by order of the Senate; to be paid out of any unappropriated money in the treasury of the United States. Approved, February 25, 1799.
