Chap. LV.— An Act for the relief of Leonard Denison and Elisha Ely. March 22, 1832. *Be it enacted, &c., * Indemnified for certain damages. That the Fourth Auditor of the Treasury ascertain the damages sustained and the expenses incurred by Leonard Denison and Elisha Ely, arising from the omission, on the part of the Navy officer at Sackett’s Harbor, to deliver, within a reasonable time, the TWENTY-SECOND CONGRESS. Sess. I. Ch. 56, 59, 60, 61, 62. 1832. 483 whole of one thousand four hundred and ninety-one tons fourteen hundreds three quarters and five pounds of the armament and naval stores at that station to them, after the tenth of June, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-five, to be transported, under a contract made with the Navy Commissioners, to Brooklyn in New York.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted, *That the damages and expensesAppropriation. so ascertained, shall be subject to the supervision of the Secretary of the Navy: and when the amount shall be finally settled and adjusted, the same shall be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
