Chap. IV.— An Act for the relief of Henry Fanning. Jan. 17, 1816. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * To be released from imprisonment. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he hereby is, authorized and required to cause to be discharged from his imprisonment, Henry Fanning, of the city of New York, in all cases in which he, the said Henry Fanning, is imprisoned by virtue of mesne or final process, issued on any debt or judgment due to the United States: *Provided,* however, that any estate, real or personal, which he the said Henry Fanning, may have, or which he may hereafter acquire, shall be liable to the satisfaction of the debts and judgments due to the United States, on which he the said Henry Fanning is imprisoned, in the same manner as if he had not been imprisoned and discharged. *And provided further,* that nothing in this act contained shall be so construed as to affect the liability of any coobligor, that may have been bound with the said Henry Fanning, for the payment of any sum or sums of money, to the United States.
