Chap. II.— An Act concerning General Lafayette. Dec. 28, 1824. *Be it enacted, by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * 200,000 dollars to be paid General Lafayette. That, in consideration of the services and sacrifices of General Lafayette, in the war of the Revolution, the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized to pay to him the sum of two hundred thousand dollars, out of any money in the treasury, not otherwise appropriated.
Sec. 2. One township of land to be granted him. *And be it further enacted, *That there be granted to the said General Lafayette and his heirs, one township of land, to be laid out and located under the authority of the President, in any of the unappropriated lands of the United States.
