Chap. CXXIV.— An Act for the relief of Joseph Smith, of Alexandria. May 19, 1824. *Be it enacted, &c., * That the Secretary of the Navy be, and he is hereby,To receive wages and prize money for his slave. authorized and directed to pay to Joseph Smith, of Alexandria, the wages and dividend of prize money to which he is entitled, for the services, during the late war, of his slave Tom, alias Thomas Mitchel, on board the United States’ ship the Wasp.
