Chap. CXXI.— An Act for the relief of William L. D. Ewing. May 20, 1826. *Be it enacted, &c., * A credit to be allowed to him for money lost by robbery. That the proper accounting officers of the treasury be, and they are hereby, authorized and directed, in settling the accounts of William L. D. Ewing, receiver of public moneys at Vandalia, in the state of Illinois, to pass to the credit of the said Ewing the sum of one thousand dollars, that being the amount which was lost by a robbery of the State Bank of Illinois, on the twenty-sixth Alarch, eighteen hundred and twenty-three, and which the said Ewing had deposited in said bank for safe keeping, the said money being the property of the United States.
