Chap. CLXXIX.— An Act for the relief of Wolcott Chauncey.June 30, 1834. *Be it enacted, &c.,* That the proper accounting officers of the treasury Account to be settled, and loss on treasury notes allowed. department be, and they are hereby, authorized to audit and settle the account of Wolcott Chauncey, now a captain in the navy of the United States, on the principles of equity and justice; and to allow, in the settlement thereof, whatever loss may have been sustained by him from the sale of treasury notes received by him in the years one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, and one thousand eight hundred and fifteen, and applied to the public service under the direction of the navy department: *Provided,* That the allowance so, as Proviso. aforesaid, made, shall not exceed the sum of seven hundred and sixty-six dollars and twenty cents.
