Chap. CCCXXXII.— An Act *for the relief of Elijah Simmons.* July 2, 1836. *Be it enacted, &c.*, That Elijah Simmons be, and he is hereby, authorized to locate six hundred and forty acres of the public lands of theAuthorized to locale a tract of land. United States within the state of Alabama, subject to entry at private sale, in lieu of eight hundred arpens situated on the east side of the Alabama river, in what is commonly called the fork, near the Tensaw river, and to which he was entitled by the laws of Spain, on which he had settled, had cultivated and inhabited in seventeen hundred and ninety-seven, and which has been sold by the United States as public lands: *Provided,* That the said location be made in conformity withProviso. the legal divisions and subdivisions of public lands, and in quantities not less than one hundred and sixty acres; and on the execution, by the said Elijah Simmons, of a good and sufficient release to the United States of all his right, title, and interest to the said lands as aforesaid, to be filed in the proper land office, patents shall be issued to him for the quantity of one section, as above mentioned.
