Chap. LXVII.— An Act making appropriations for certain improvements in the Territory of Florida.June 15, 1844. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the following To be expended under direction of Secretary of War. sums be, and they are hereby appropriated for improvements in the Territory of Florida, to be expended under the direction of the Secretary of War, to wit: For removal of obstructions to the navigation of the rivers Choctawhatchie, Choctawhatchie and Holmes rivers. and Holmes, ten thousand dollars;
For survey of routes for a railroad across the peninsula of Florida, Survey for railroad. three thousand dollars; For connecting the waters of Indian river and Mosquito lagoon, at Connecting Indian river and Mosquito lagoon. the Hanlover, one thousand five hundred dollars; For removal of obstructions in the navigation of the river St. Mark’s, St. Mark’s river. above its confluence with the Wakulla river, two thousand five hundred dollars.
