(/us/74/pl/697).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Missouri River.Time extended for bridging, near South Sioux City, Nebr., and Sioux City, Iowa. That the times for commencing and completing the construction of the bridge across the Missouri River, at or near the cities of South Sioux City, Nebraska, and Sioux City, Iowa, authorized to be built by the county *Ante*, p. 1073.of Dakota, State of Nebraska, by section 30 of the Act of Congress approved August 30, 1935, are hereby extended one and three years, respectively, from the date of approval hereof.
Sec. 2. Amendment. The right to alter, amend, or repeal this Act is hereby expressly reserved. Approved, June 19, 1936. That the consent of Congress is hereby granted to the Louisiana Highway Commission, an administrative body created and acting under the constitution and laws of the State of Louisiana, to construct, maintain, and operate a free or toll highway bridge, or a railway bridge in combination with a free or toll highway bridge, and approaches thereto across the Mississippi River, Construction.Vol. 34, p. 84.[U. S. C., p. 1474](/us/usc/p1474).at a point suitable to the interests of navigation, at or near Baton Rouge, in the State of Louisiana, in accordance with the provisions of the Act entitled “An Act to regulate the construction of bridges over navigable waters”, approved March 23, 1906, and subject to the conditions and limitations contained in this Act.
Sec. 2. Rates of toll applied for operation, sinking fund, etc. If tolls are charged for the use of such bridge, the rates of toll shall be so adjusted as to provide a fund sufficient to pay the reasonable cost of maintaining, repairing, and operating the bridge and its approaches under economical management, and to provide a sinking fund sufficient to amortize the cost of the bridge and its approaches, including reasonable interest and financing cost, as soon1531as possible under reasonable charges, but within a period of not to exceed twenty years from the completion thereof.
After a sinkingMaintenance as free bridge after amortizing costs, etc. fund sufficient for such amortization shall have been so providea, such bridge shall thereafter be maintained and operated free of tolls, or the rates of toll shall thereafter be so adjusted as to provide a fund of not to exceed the amount necessary for the proper maintenance, repair, and operation of the bridge and its approaches under economical management. An accurate record of the costs of the bridgeRecord of expenditures and receipts. and its approaches, the expenditures for maintaining, repairing, and operating the same, and of the daily tolls collected, shall be kept and shall be available for the information of all persons interested.
