CHAP. 650.— An Act To establish additional salary grades for mechanics, helpers in the motor-vehicle service. June 27, 1930.[[H. R. 9227](/us/bill/71/hr/9227).][[Public, No. 464](/us/pl/71/464).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Crated States of America in Congress assembled*, That section 6, Postal Service.Reclassification of salaries.Vol. 43, p. 1060, amended.[U. S. C., p. 1243](/us/usc/1243).paragraph 3, of the Act entitled “An Act reclassifying the salaries of postmasters and employees of the Postal Service, readjusting their salaries and compensation on an equitable basis, increasing postal rates to provide for such readjustment, and for other purposes,” Vol. 45, p. 998.[U.
S. C., p. 398; Supp, IV, p. 544](/us/usc/398/544).approved February 28, 1925 (Forty-third Statutes, page 1060; United States Code, title 39, section 116), and the Act entitled “An Act to allow the Postmaster General to promote mechanics’ helpers to the first grade of special mechanics,” approved May 29, 1928 (Forty-fifth Statutes, page 998; Supplement III, United States Code, title 39, section 116), are hereby modified to read as follows: " “The salary grades of mechanics’ helpers employed in the motorvehicle Mechanics’ helpers.service shall be $1,600, $1,700, and $1,800 per annum: *Provided*, That *Provisos.*Initial salaries, etc.original appointments shall be made to the $1,600 grade, and promotions shall be made to the next higher grade at the beginning of a quarter following one year’s satisfactory service in each grade: *Provided further*, That after one year’s service in the Promotion to general or special mechanics.$1,800 grade mechanics’ helpers may in the discretion of the Postmaster General be promoted to the first grade of general mechanics or special mechanics, as vacancies occur: *Provided further*, That Effective date.this Act shall be effective July 1, 1930.
