CHAP. 574.— An Act Authorizing the purchase by the Secretary of Commerce of additional land for the Bureau of Standards of the Department of Commerce. June 23, 1930.[[H. R. 7997](/us/bill/71/hr/7997).][[Public, No. 414](/us/pl/71/414).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the SecretaryBureau of Standards.Acquisition of additional lands in District of Columbia for.*Post*, p. 873. of Commerce be, and he is hereby, authorized to acquire, by purchase, condemnation, or otherwise, not to exceed seventeen acres of land, including improvements thereon, adjacent to the present site of the Bureau of Standards to enlarge its present site, at a cost not to exceedCost limitation. $400,000.
Sec. 2. That the Secretary of Commerce is authorized, if he shallReservation of rights by grantor of title. deem advisable, to acquire the fee title to any parts of said land herein authorized to be acquired subject to limited rights, but not for business purposes, reserved to the grantor: *Provided*, That such reservation*Provisos*.Termination of. of rights shall not continue beyond the life or lives of the grantor or grantors of the fee: *Provided further*, That in the opinion of saidContract to serve Government interest.
Secretary of Commerce such contract for acquisition of land subject to such limited rights will satisfactorily serve the interest of the Government therein. Sec. 3. That the Commissioners of the District of Columbia be,Streets and alleys closed. and they are hereby, authorized and directed to close and vacate such portions of streets and alleys as lie within, or break the continuity of the enlarged site, as in the judgment of the Secretary of Commerce may be necessary, and the portions of such streets and alleys so closed 800*Proviso*.Streets, etc., not to be closed.and vacated shall thereupon become parts of said site: *Provided*, That no portion of Van Ness Street, Tilden Street, or Reno Road shall be closed under the provisions of this Act.
