CHAP. 490.— An Act To enable the Postmaster General to authorize the establishment of temporary or emergency star-route service from a date earlier than the date of the order requiring such service. June 14, 1930.[[H. R. 5190](/us/bill/71/hr/5190).][[Public, No. 359](/us/pl/71/359).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Postal Service.Star routes.Vol. 39, p. 181, amended.[U. S. C., p. 1262](/us/usc/1262).
That section 8 of the Act entitled “An Act to amend the Act approved June 25, 1910, authorizing the Postal Savings System, and for other purposes,” approved May 18, 1916 (Thirty-ninth Statutes at Large, page 161, United States Code, title 39, section 434), is hereby amended by adding thereto the following proviso: " Compensation for temporary additional service, etc.[R. S., sec. 3960, p. 768](/us/rs/s3960/p768).[U. S. C., p. 1263](/us/usc/1263). “*Provided further*, That the provisions of section 3960, Revised Statutes, that no compensation shall be paid for additional service in carrying the mail until such additional service is ordered, the sum to be allowed therefor to be expressed in the order and entered upon the books of the department, and that no compensation shall be paid for any additional regular service rendered before the issuing of such order, shall not apply to any service authorized under this Act.
