CHAP. 461.— An Act To provide for the modernization of the United States Naval Observatory at Washington, District of Columbia, and for other purposes. June 11, 1930.[[H. R. 9370](/us/bill/71/hr/9370).][[Public, No. 343](/us/pl/71/343).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Naval Observatory, D. C.Sums for modernization of, authorized.*Post*, pp. 577, 579, 1453. That there is hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sums as may be necessary to be expended by the Secretary of the Navy for the following purposes at a cost not to exceed the amount stated after each item Items specified.enumerated:
United States Naval Observatory, Washington, District of Columbia, purchase and installation of equipment, utilities, and appurtenances for astrographic and research work and modernization of the astronomical plant, $160,000; construction of astrographic *Proviso.*Plans, etc., to be approved by Fine Arts Commission, etc.laboratory, $65,000; total, $225,000: *Provided*, That the location, plans, and specifications lor such buildings shall be approved by the Fine Arts Commission and by the Secretary of the Navy.
