CHAP. 455.— An Act Establishing under the jurisdiction of the Department of Justice a division of the Bureau of Investigation to be known as the Division of Identification and Information. June 11, 1930.[[H. R. 977](/us/bill/71/hr/977).][[Public, No. 337](/us/pl/71/337).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Department of Justice.Identification and Information Division established in Bureau of Investigation of.Duties.
That there be, and there is hereby, established under the jurisdiction of the Department of Justice a division of the Bureau of Investigation to be known as the Division of Identification and Information; that said division shall be vested with the duty of acquiring, collecting, classifying, and preserving criminal identification and other crime records and the exchanging of said criminal identification records with the duly authorized officials of governmental agencies, of States, cities, and penal institutions; and that the cost of maintenance and operation of said division shall be paid from the appropriation “Detection and prosecution of crimes” for the respective fiscal years concerned, as otherwise provided.
